Good Afternoon,

Last evening (Oct. 21), and again this morning (Oct. 22), the school district was notified of two independent positive COVID-19 cases. The first case reported last evening was that of a HSN student who is an all-virtual student. As there was no interaction in school, there is no further action that is required by the school district. High School North will continue to operate on our Hybrid 1 Week without interruption.

The second case, reported this morning, was that of a HSS student who was last in district on Monday. We have been in contact with the West Windsor Health Department and, in conjunction with the health department, conducted contact tracing. While the student was last present in district on Monday, contact tracing rules require that a review of close contacts must be done to include the 48 hours prior to the onset of symptoms. The building administration and nursing staff have worked with classroom teachers to ensure that all social distancing and safety protocols were followed. Due to the vigilance and adherence to these protocols, there are no additional quarantines that are required for any in-school exposure related to this case. High School South will continue to operate on our Hybrid 1 Week without interruption.

As a reminder, our WW-P Schools have implemented health protocols as informed by guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the New Jersey Department of Health. When implemented with fidelity, the protocols work to limit possible exposure and spread of COVID-19. There are several critical components to our protocols and they include:

  1. Completion of a Daily Health Screening form.
  2. Social distancing of at least six feet.
  3. Limited direct exposure within six feet for more than ten minutes.
  4. Wearing of masks.
  5. Proper handwashing.
  6. Set-up of classrooms that limits contact between staff and students.
  7. High frequency cleaning.
  8. Practice good hand hygiene. Wash hands often with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer.
  9. Daily temperature checks.
  10. Hallways and restrooms are cleaned and disinfected daily.
  11. All classrooms, offices, and high touch surfaces are cleaned and disinfected daily.

Below are some resources that might be helpful.

Please remain vigilant as we continue to see COVID cases rise throughout our state. Your continued adherence and steadfast determination to follow health protocols serves to keep the families of West Windsor and Plainsboro safe.
