The district will continue to use the Screen-Free afternoon structure currently in place to alleviate students' screen time one afternoon a week. On the following dates, all WW-P schools will institute Screen-Free afternoons and continue to operate on an abbreviated schedule. Students will experience classes in the morning only on the Screen-Free afternoons listed below. Please note the Screen-Free afternoons alternate days of the week each month. This is to ensure the same classes are not impacted. On those days students will not have synchronous or asynchronous classes in the afternoon. Community Education will be conducting the in-person Extended Day Program (EDP) for currently registered students who are in need of care.

APRIL - Screen-Free Tuesday Afternoon Dates Are:

  • Tuesday, Apr. 13

  • Tuesday, Apr. 20

  • Tuesday, Apr. 27

MAY - Screen-Free Thursday Afternoon Dates Are:

  • Wednesday, Jun. 9

  • Wednesday, Jun. 16

The grade level schedules on the above-mentioned afternoons are as below. This schedule applies to both hybrid and all-virtual students.

  • Maurice Hawk Half-day preschool students will have an all-virtual learning day on the above dates.

  • Elementary schools will operate on a conference day schedule allowing students to experience all classes in the morning.

On Screen-Free afternoons, students will not have additional classes or related services (e.g., speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, etc) those afternoons. All regularly scheduled afternoon services will occur during the morning periods. Students will be encouraged to close their Chromebook and spend the afternoon participating in activities away from their computer screen. Click here for a great resource of activities for Screen-Free afternoons.

WW-P staff will utilize the Screen-Free afternoons to support collaboration and professional development. Teachers and staff members will not be available to answer student questions during these afternoons.
