Summer Reading Tips for ESL Students
Read books in your native language as well as in English.
Form a book club with friends or family members.
Consider reading other types of text such as graphic novels, online articles, short stories, and poetry.
Listen to audiobooks, which you can do while you walk, exercise, do chores, etc.
Write in a journal while you read. Write down any thoughts or questions that come up while you read.
Don't worry if you don't comprehend every word. You can understand the main idea of a reading without knowing the meaning of every word.
If the reading level is too difficult for you, choose something else that you will understand and enjoy.
Try to make a habit of reading a little bit every day.
