Dear WW-P Community,

As we enter our last final days of the 2021-22 school year, I wanted to take a moment to thank our staff, students, parents/guardians, and community at large. I am grateful to our faculty and staff for their dedication to our students, colleagues, and WW-P families during this past year. This year was a year of constant changes and in many ways was more challenging than the previous two. To our students, I thank you for rolling with the ever changing environment that was this school year. Thank you for continuing to support your classmates and friends through these challenging times. To our parents and guardians and the community at large, thank you for your support. A school (and district) is stronger when there is a strong home and school connection. Thank you for being part of that connection.

This email will be my final Health and Safety Update of the 2021-22 school year. During the coming school year, I will continue to keep families and staff informed regarding health and safety, however these communications may look different. As we approach summer break, our buildings will remain open and busy with summer programs, Community Education camps, new student open houses, professional development programming and planning for the coming school year.

A few end-of-year reminders for WW-P staff and families follow.

Quarantine/Isolation:
For the safety of the WW-P community, it is important that if your child is isolating or quarantining due to a COVID positive diagnosis or a COVID close contact, and was told they may not attend school, this quarantine/isolation would include any end-of-year activities including (but not limited to) Eighth Grade Salutes, graduation exercises, etc. Students may not attend school or end-of-year events until their quarantine/isolation period has officially ended. This would also apply to any parent/guardian/student/staff member who is scheduled to attend a summer program, meeting, event, or activity in one of schools. Please observe your quarantine/isolation period in its entirety before returning to our schools.

Optional, Onsite COVID Testing:
Saturday, June 18, from 9 a.m. -12 p.m. at High School North will be the final optional, onsite COVID testing date for the 2021-22 school year for students and vaccinated staff members. Saturday COVID testing will NOT be offered during the summer.

Last Day of School:
Tuesday, June 21, is the last day of school. All WW-P schools will have an early dismissal June 21, 2022. No food service will be provided. Half-day preschool at Maurice Hawk Elementary School’s last day of school is June 20, 2022.

Food Services:
A note on Food Services for the 2022-23 school year–The New Jersey Department of Agriculture and federal government has not extended the program that provided free meals to all students this school year. For the 2022-23 school year, lunches will be available for purchase (Lunch prices will be $3.25/lunch for high school/middle school students ($4.25/premium “A” lunch for grades 6-12) and $2.90/lunch for elementary school students). Families will be able to use PaySchools Central to deposit money into their student’s lunch account so that students may use their student ID and/or ID number to make purchases in the cafeteria (students will also be able to use cash). At the start of the school year, the application for free and reduced price school meals will be available through PaySchools Central. In addition to no cost meals at school, this application also opens up other food benefits for families. More information will be shared with families over the summer.

2022-23 School Year Calendar:
The WW-P 2022-23 school year calendar can be accessed via the District website.

I extend my best wishes to two very special groups as they begin their next adventure. To our WW-P retirees, I say thank you for your many years of service to the children and families of WW-P.  You have made our schools a better place and have touched thousands of lives. I wish you relaxation and time well spent with the people you love doing the things that you enjoy. To the Class of 2022, I wish you much success as you move on to the next chapter of your life. You will continue to make us proud.

Wishing everyone a safe, healthy and relaxing summer break. See you in September.

Sincerely,
David Aderhold, Ed.D
Superintendent of Schools
