Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) is a new federal program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer. Families will receive $120 for each eligible child to buy groceries during the summer. Children who receive Summer EBT benefits can still participate in other summer meal programs. Receiving benefits will not affect children or families' immigration status. Summer EBT benefits will be loaded onto an EBT card and mailed home. Students/families that are approved for free and reduced meals at the end of the 2023-24 school year qualify. In addition, students/families that are approved during the summer (before Aug. 31, 2024) will also qualify

Important Summer EBT information!
  • Summer EBT benefits are separate and apart from any Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits received on a "NJFamiliesFirst" card.
  • Summer EBT benefits will be issued on a separate "New Jersey Summer EBT" benefit card.
  • Summer EBT cards will be mailed directly to eligible children throughout the month of June and mailed to the address provided on file by the school district. Issuance will be ongoing.
  • Additional info can be found here.
